I was wondering if anyone here knew of a good video encoding / conversion software. It could be freeware or software I have to pay for. The type of software I'm looking for is one that would convert any type of video file to any other type of video file (i.e. .mov to wmv, wmv to divx, divx to xvid, xvid to mpg, mpg to h264 or mp4 etc)

If it doesn't encode "everything" still list whatever you use. .mov conversion is a must.

This actually sounds cool + Its Free!! What's the catch? Is the download just a trial version or is it completely freeware? How fast is it in your opinion? Also, most importantly, does it work with Vista? (32-bit)

actually, I can find that last part out for myself :)

Total Video Converter is great but not free at all. It's a trial, and when used on trial it watermarks converted files :(

    Indeed.
It's a time-limited trial, and it watermarks files.
However, I find that the watermark isn't that bad, I might even buy the full version one day . . .
