Well I've been using Google's Chrome for about a half an hour now. I came across my first bug within about thirty seconds of use.
While using my laptop trackpad, it doesn't allow me to scroll up with the scrollbar. It will allow me to scroll down.
My machine is a Dell Inspiron 13 with a Synaptics driver version of 10.1.2.0.
What else have you guys run into? I can't be the only one with Chrome issues.
-
Be nice if a mod could merge all Google Chrome threads. This is crazy.
-
I don't want to have to dig through a useless reviews thread to find bugs. I think it makes sense to have a dedicated bugs thread.
I do agree the various, generic, Chrome threads should be merged, though. -
I see what you mean about the scroll bar, I have the same problem (M1330).
-
Same problem with my M-152XL. It also has a synaptics touchpad.
-
-
What's your trackpad driver version?
-
No one likes a self appointed mod. Have fun padding your post count. -
same here, can't scroll up on touch pad.
-
-
It allows me to on my M1530. I'm running ALPs though.
-
I'm not trying to be a mod, they can delete all my posts for all I care. Wait, will that reduce my post count? I'd hate for that to happen.
-
Hiker is just trying to be helpful.
-
You don't see me shooting down his worthless threads, the most recent of which, ironically, is trying to figure out a Firefox bug. -
-
No problems like above with ALPS..

On topic:
I've noticed Chrome has two chrome exes running 24MB and 27MB. I have only one tab open. Whats up with that? -
At this point, this thread has been thoroughly crapped on, and will probably be deleted. I'm sure another bug report thread will pop up, though. -
Basically, one of the chrome.exe's is reacting to your button clicks, and the other one is converting the HTML to the graphics and text you want to see. It's overall a much better browser design.
Oh, and guys? Chill out. It's a frickin' message board. If you don't like what someone's saying, you can ignore it. I don't see any personal insults here yet, so I'm not gonna delete any posts or the thread. Yet. Just take 10 deep breaths before you post, and ask yourself if it really matters. -
AH MICK >> Relax and chill...
No worries.

Thanks.

Thanks.. well I didn't have time to look in detail into this new browser.. but what you said sounds pretty good.. considering I often used to face (at the desktop at work, XP Pro) the issue with a javascript taking down the whole session...though it didn't happen on Vista for me yet...
Nice with this Chrome then.. anyway -
np. It's kind of like threading, but each process has its own memory space, so it lets the operating system do its job of managing memory, rather than the current mess we have with running Firefox for a long time with lots of tabs opening and closing, and it eating up a lot of memory.
Read their comic book for some graphical layman's explanations of why it's so cool -
+Rep for Pitabred.
-
Anyway, sounds really nice though -

Windows AND Linux do multi-threading. If they didn't, your multi-core C2D wouldn't be of much use
Chrome just does it in a more Unix/Linux way, with multiple processes, instead of multiple threads in a single process, which is kind of the Windows way. Being mostly a Linux weenie, I think the Linux way is the "right" way, which is why I like what Chrome is doing
Basically, it's like running multiple copies of the web browser, but they can all "talk" to each other. But if one dies or goes out of control, the others don't care. They just keep working. It uses a little more memory for each tab, but overall, it will be a lot more stable for the entire system and for browsing in general.
Especially the little graphic with the folders just a couple of pages in.

read through that comic.. its great

So, it was a long shot, but I tried loading up the Alps trackpad driver for the XPS m1530. Long story short, it didn't work.
No surprise there. It was worth a try, I guess. -
Seeing as I am not the only one with this synaptics bug, I am going to report the bug to google...soon as I figure out how

Google Chrome made my entire desktop go black and I had to force my desktop to shut off...
-
-
same problem here
-
no, i don't think its the synaptic issue here cuz i use my desktop mouse which is a logitech and it doesn't work. i guess they forgot to implement it.
-
no, works with a a4 tech x710fs on xp
doesn't work with the synaptics touchpad on vista (well it works - down only) -
Well I'm running the synaptic touchpad on Vista and it seems that scrolling to the right works but scrolling to the left doesn't work. It's very odd that they don't have downward and left scrolling working. Can anyone else confirm the left scrolling isn't working?
-

Does everyone else's Chrome slightly cutoff the tabs on top and status bar on bottom when you maximize? The cutoff tabs doesn't bother me as much as not being able to see the status bar...
My Alps touchpad with Fujitsu scrollable driver works fine in Chrome, although it scrolls REALLY fast. Pretty annoying, but then again I don't use my touchpad much. -
My touchpad goes up and down but it is like ridiculously fast in Chrome. Good thing I always just use a mouse.
Has anyone figured out how to open the downloads box? When I download something in one tab, I can only see the download information at the bottom of the window while on that tab. If I switch to another tab I can't see the downloads...
edit: well I can open a new tab that contains ALL download info, but a separate box like Firefox has would be more useful -
same with me too am running ALPS on my HP its scrolls too fast. i think it is scrolling i page after other instead of some 3 or 4 lines while we scroll.

Not about bugs, I had a website I couldn't view with Chrome an hour ago. I tried it a few times, reported it via broken website link at the top. Now it works.
website was: http://www.techbargains.com/ -
Here's a good one. When running Google Chrome, type in about:% in the address bar.

ScuderiaConchiglia NBR Vaio Team Curmudgeon
Wow!!! That was pretty strange, immediate crash. Ouch!
Gary -
Yup. I'm not sure if it's a bug or just an Easter Egg type thing.
-
You don't even need the about bit. Just the :%
I don't think it's an Easter Egg... programs disappearing unexpectedly isn't a very good surprise -
But then again, it does have the nifty restore thing and the cute message. Or is the restore for whenever it crashes?

Same here too. I have a Gateway T-6836
