Here is the offline installer of Google Chrome.
For people like me, who don't need googleupdate.exe, this is for you. This will install Google Chrome WITHOUT Googleupdater!
It will just install the browser.![]()
So if you currently have Google Chrome already, uninstall then install the below link.![]()

Cool. Now that the updater is gone and the EULA has been changed, I'm going to give Chrome a shot.
Tired it, didn't like it. Back to FF3. -

Im using it its alright. I did not notice any updater tho.
-
Huh? This DL comes with no googleupdate or google gears. This DL gives only Google Chrome and nothing else.
-
I wonder if this will fix some of the theme issues.
-

I just read (but haven't verified) that uninstalling Chrome still leaves Google Update behind. Grrrrrrrrrrr. Anyone else know the truth on this.

Uninstalling it got rid of it for me. Uninstall chrome, download the chrome in my first post. googleupdate will never run again. my download is CLEAN, gives only google chrome
-
Valuable download. I hate all that Google crap. thank you!
-
Alchemy. Google turns browser into gold.
not. -
I had to uninstall google updater after chrome.
-
You mean you deleted the AppData folder "Google" containing everything. That's what I did, now googleupdate never runs on my pc.
-
And make sure you delete the startup registry key too.
P.S. Nice find! I'm stealing your dl link and putting it in my thread.
-
Well if you uninstall it that gets rid of it. ;o
if you wanna steal my link rep me >:O -
Actually, not for the updater, I had to remove the startup registry key manually.
-
I'm pretty sure I already got rid of that, but to ensure that I did, where is it exactly?
I went into ccleaner>startup>disable>delete -
Start -> Run -> regedit
Then browse to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and delete the Google Updater key.
If you did it in CCleaner, I think it should be gone already. -
yeah its gone
-
No. I mean I ran Revo, clicked on Google Updater, clicked Uninstall
-
rofl ***, i never had an app for googleupdater. =x
-
Clean Chrome Anyone?
-
It's easy enough to block Google Updater in Windows Defender > Tools > Software Explorer > Startup Programs... so this isn't that big a deal to me.
Still... nice find... I guess it is a little more convenient to not have it installed in the first place. -
No, even disabling the startup of googleupdate, when you run chrome for like a few minutes, and check task manager googupdate.exe is there. All you really have to do is delete the update folder in appdata. but this clean install also doesnt have google gears. its JUST chrome.
-
Ah, you're right, I just saw the updater running in Task Manager... and I wasn't even running Chrome. Grrrrr....
EDIT: Ah, I see... it adds a task to Task Scheduler to run the updater "when computer is idle". Just now I disabled the trigger for that task. This way, it can still be run to check briefly from within Chrome (by choosing "About Google Chrome" from the menu), but it won't just run in the background. -
Ah, nice find. Didn't think of checking task scheduler.
