I have decided to move away from Internet Explorer and use Google Chrome.

The problem is that I have tried to set it as my default browser via the options menu within Google Chrome. I have also tried to set it via right clicking the Google Chrome properties shortcut, and still nothing.

It won't set as my default on my M1330.

    Halp?

    Vista 32.

I have also tried the method that you've mentioned, but the only available option for Web Browsing is IE8.

IE8 - where did you get that from...
    Anyway.

My guess would be that Chrome for some reason isn't recognized as a browser...

    IE8 - Internet Explorer 8 (RC1). I got it from Microsoft's website.

Try clicking the Start button>default programs>set your default programs>click Google Chrome>Set this program as default
