How do you use Google Earth?
Do you use it for finding directions, looking for local businesses, use it during extreme boredom?
I was just curious. I already have GPS software for a handheld unit and was wondering if there is any value of having it on my system.

i dont use it at all, only tried it out once when it were new...
-
I just use it to check out locations, pretty nice app.
-
Hotel hunting in areas I don't know. So that I can get from and to the hotel easily, either walking or on public transportation. (It can automatically point hotel locations and train/subway routes)
-
you can get directions but I just use it too look around any areas.
-
Try to find shortcuts around my campus so I can get to my classes on time and not tired XD. And it is really useful for finding location. Too bad it needs internet connection before I would bring my laptop with me in the car.
-
And some other random things toosuch as my house, friends house, university campus....basically you get the idea
-
I used it for a while. It is okay but the image quality wasn't that great so I uninstalled it.

Boredom. And flying around my city pointing out all the building that have been made since it was released and are missing.
-
Yeah, I never knew that anyone used Google Earth for anything practical. Go figure.
-
I just looked up some areas that I have been where there are gates and access restricted (gated communities). It is neat but also imparts a certain part of guilt by snooping around restricted areas.
-
It would be very useful if the pics were updated daily...I guess we are still far away from such services..
-
Its really useless for me most of the time, so I trust my street directory more than I trust google earth.
It might have some use in US but the pics for Australia are really old (at least 5 years) and doesn't really cover the whole city in some cases.
And as for asia, its absolutely useless apart from showing a handful of major cities. -
If you like Google Earth, try http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/.

I actually tried the WorldWind from NASA and it is alright. I don't know if I really like it, probably because I used Google Earth for such a long time. I had it since its previous own, Keyhole.

Well, for the USA they have complete USGS mapping and for the rest of the world they have numerous LandSat overlays, so WorldWind is better for somethings, I suppose.
