Does anyone know where GPU-Z takes the temp readings from?

There are three of them for the 6990m, GPU Temp #1, GPU Temp #2 and GPU Temp #3. GPU temp #2 is higher than the other two, so I wanted to address it. Does anyone know of GPU temp #2 is associated with the memory modules?

    Normally
    1 - display i/o
    2 - mem i/o
    3 - shader

You can install HWINFO 32 or HWINFO 64 to check.

Ok. I've ordered some new thermal pads for the memory. Hopefully it helps

Mem I/O is the memory controller, not the memory, i don't think there are sensors on the VRAM.

New thermal pads and repaste may help, just to get a more uniform contact.
