I don't know if it is just my eyes, but after updating to windows 8.1 today, I've noticed some issues with my laptop. It's the Asus Q501la. If anyone else has these issues, please let me know and if you were able to address them. Thank you.

-grainy display in desktop mode. When I launched Chrome for the first time after updating, the text was unusually large. My laptop has a FHD IPS display so the text is suppose to appear very small by default.

-touch screen not very accurate, when I right click using the touch screen, the menu comes up in a different place than from where I right clicked.

I can't find any updates for my touch screen driver. Should I try to reinstall my drivers?

    UPDATE: FIXED, I'm kinda dumb.

So, I after a while of googling and testing in firefox, I found out that this was a chrome-specific issue. Apparently, a lot of people got the same issue (grainy screen) when they updated to Windows 8.1 preview. You guys are probably smarter than me, but I'll just post what I learned.

    For chrome:
right click on the chrome shortcut in the task bar -> go to properties -> compatibility->check disable display scaling on high dpi settings. It worked for me and it fixed both of my issues.

It's not just an issue that affects Chrome. I'm having blurred windows menus after the update. I've made some progress by adjusting the control panel display settings: "make text and other items smaller or larger" , just changing the slider seems to fix some of the issues, But I continue to see blurred menus that aren't scaling correctly.

I had a lot of blurred issues after updating to 8.1. An extra restart fixed my issue, but if this doesn't work, go to your manufactures' website and download their most recent driver, whether it's for Windows 8 or 8.1, and this will probably fix your issue.

Its a common issue with 8.1 Go to the display properties and select the "let me select one scaling for all displays" Then you see the 100, 125 or 150 percent scaling options. The auto scaling on 8.1 is wacked and does not work on all apps. Some are really horrid. MS did a terrible job with the scaling. Glad I have a 1080P Samsung book 9 FHD instead of the quad resolution one.. which relies on the 8.1 scaling which is DOA. Terrible job MS. This really ruins it for the 4K screens.

Basically just bypass it and tick the select one scaling option.. which returns it to the old behavior. Maybe next time around MS will get it right. I noticed the issues right away after updating to 8.1.
