I have a Thinkpad T61p with a 256MB Quadro FX 570M with Windows Vista SP1. I have previously used the 174.51 drivers from LaptopVideo2Go with no problems, and then I decided to do an update to the new 174.74 drivers.

This is exactly how I did it:
Downloaded the drivers + inf, extracted the driver folder, placed inf inside (I wasn't sure how to use all the included inf's)
Uninstalled previous driver from Programs and Features
    Rebooted into Safe Mode
    Ran Driver Sweeper
Ran setup.exe from the driver folder (I know I probably shouldn't have done this, but I was lazy)
Everything ran fine, rebooted into normal windows.

Now this usually works fine for me. However, this time, it looked as though the driver didn't go through, because it was telling me I only had a standard VGA adapter. At this point, I downloaded 174.70 and tried installing that the same way. Same result. Then I tried doing it by going into the device manager, going to the adapter, and updating the driver from there. However, when I direct the wizard to the driver folder, it goes ahead and tells me:

"The best driver software for your device is already installed
Windows has determined the driver software for you device is up to date.
    Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"

wtf? I try this with several more driver versions, including the modded one by Hackez. No dice. Any ideas here?

EDIT: Okay, I managed to fix it. For anyone who might have the same problem in the future, here's what I did:
Going through the device properties -> update drivers method, instead of pointing the wizard to the driver directory, I clicked "Let me pick from a list...", then I clicked "Have Disk", and then I directed it to the appropriate .inf file.
