In case you did know about PortableApps, it's a nice program for USB sticks or any External Drive that lets you carry around a Vista/XP like Start-Menu and is loaded with well know Apps you might need on the go.

I tried this out and it works great. Also works good on Restricted access PC's that do not have certain apps and/or won't allow install. Also, you can use this without leaving personal data. EX: Using FF on this will not leave any type of cache or cookies in any computer.

    Click Picture for download.

I'll second your recommendation. I feel naked without my portableapps drive (I left it at home today :(). I can modify FireFox however I like it, walk into my IE 6-only office, and smirk at my jealous coworkers as I contentedly tab-browse :D.

I used to use it... It's Ok, but it's like the U3 software on my Sandisk Cruzer.

If you want a motherload of portable apps for your removable drives (flash, external etc.) check out PAC(see links below). I think it stands for the PortableAppsCollection and it has many proggies that I couldn't find elsewhere (like a portable version of etheral). It's pretty darned big, but once you extract it you can trim the list of programs to suit your needs.

This is U3. It's basically a proprietary program that comes on specific drives made for it, like my sandisk cruzer titanium. I like this program better than U3 even though i haven't used this yet because i have no need to run apps off my drive yet.
