How to Create a BartPE Disc with Acronis Products

Benefits:

• Faster restoring and backups of true image archives. This is because the Linux boot CD for True Image sometimes does not use USB 2.0 drivers for external hard drives which can increase operation time significantly.

• Better hardware support. The drivers that I have supplied have a way greater support for hardware than the Linux boot CD. If you ever used True Image boot CD and it didn’t recognize your hard drive you will know what I mean.

• Ability to use the Internet while True Image does its thing.

• Ability to access your hard drive if you choose to.

• You have so many other options for other plugins such as burning applications, ftp servers and client, backup your drivers, anti-virus scanners and many more other programs.
What you will need:

• XP SP2 CD

• Acronis True Image9.1 Workstation and Acronis Disk Director Suite( Disk Director is optional) installed. Make sure that you have your serial number inputted and registered.

• BartPE from http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/#download actual download link is http://www.nu2.nu/download.php?sFile=pebuilder3110a.zip

• Drivers for hard drive and LAN adapters.

o Drivers http://www.robertbromfield.com/bartpe/drivers.zip

o You can get more drivers from http://www.driverpacks.net however the ones I am providing have some modifications to them so that they are added without errors to BartPE.

o XPE Plugin http://superb-east.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/winpe/xpe-1.0.7.cab

• Acronis Plugins:

o Acronis True Image9.1 Workstation (Universal Restore is optional) http://www.robertbromfield.com/bartpe/TrueImageCorporateWorkstation9_3625_up.zip

o Acronis Disk Director Suite http://www.robertbromfield.com/bartpe/DD10_Full.zip

o For other Acronis products such as True Image Home 10 and 11 you can find the plugins below. Just basically replace the plugins with the ones you need and follow the same basic steps.

o These plugins can be found at http://www.mechrest.com/plugins/ If you found these plugins useful please donate to him.

Steps:

1. Create a folder in the root of your C: drive. Make sure that the name does not have any spaces. I will call mine “xp_source” C:\xp_source

2. Insert the XP SP2 CD into your drive and copy the all of the contents to the folder you created. In my case “xp_source”

3. Extract the contents of the BartPE zip file to a folder you create without spaces like you did for the XP CD source. I called my folder “bartpe” C:\bartpe

4. Extract the LAN drivers to C:\bartpe\drivers\Net

5. Extract the Hard Drive derivers to C:\bartpe\drivers\SCSIAdapter

6. Extract your plugins to C:\bartpe\plugin (Acronis Plugins and XPE Plugins)

7. In the in the C:\bartpe\plugin\TrueImageCorporateWorkstation9 run the file called “AutoHelp.” This will copy over your license and necessary files to the plugins directory.

8. In the C:\bartpe\plugin\DD10_Full directory run the file called “DD10-Get_Files+Lic.” This will copy over your license and necessary files to the plugins directory.

9. In the C:\bartpe directory double click on the “pebuilder” icon (red circle with PE in white inside).

10. Agree to the terms and conditions.

11. When it ask you to search to for a valid Windows source select yes, when it finds it, hit OK.

12. Configure your PE Builder to look like the screenshot below.



13. Now click Plugins.

14. Make sure that your window looks like this in terms of what is enable or disabled. Especially make sure that “[Sherpya] Windows XPE: WMI v1.0.7” and all [Sherpya] and Acronis plugins are enabled. You also want to make sure that “Nu2Shell” is disabled. When done select “Close.”



15. Now click “Build” and if it asks you to create a directory or overwrite select “Yes.” Then agree to the terms.

16. You will now see a lot of lines flying by. It is now building and this will tell you if there are any errors.



17. Success!!! No errors. Now click close. Then exit.



18. Now burn the iso located at C:\bartpe called “pebuilder.iso” with your favorite CD burning program and your set to go.

19. After the CD is burned boot your computer from the CD and let everything load. This might take some time.
