I really like Ghost 8 but it breaks the Vista boot manager. The damaged boot manager can be fixed by running the Vista repair routine using either a Vista DVD or I use a Vista Anytime Upgrade DVD. Ghost 8 is fantabulous for XP images though.

Did Acronis fix their Vista issues? It broke my boot manager.

Did you read the third post in the link from my previous post? I've not encountered any issues (yet).

Perhaps the other package to look at is Casper. I got it a few months back to clone a dual boot Vista / XP HDD which True Image 10 couldn't handle.

Casper works a bit differently to True Image - its main ability is to maintain a back-up HDD instead of recoverable image files on external media. True Image 10 could have problems restoring a whole HDD image onto a HDD which is not exactly the same size as the orginal (maybe this is fixed in ATI 11). Casper is more tolerant.

Acronis' problem only occurred when when people were backing up and restoring partitions. It did not affect whole disk images. The issue (and I assume the same issue affecting Ghost) is Vista uses a different start sector on the disk.

The newest version (11) of Acronis is fine for whole disk and partition based images.

Were you doing disk images or imaging the the partition only? If you were imaging a "partition only" did you try to restore it?
