    Hi.

For several reasons I want to reset my pc to the OEM delivered state. The notebok came with a recovery partition that was accessable through the "Repair your computer" menu after pressing F8 at boot. However, as I wanted more partitions than one I decided to reinstall Windows 7 from a DVD i downloaded from digital river. Everything installed fine and is running smoothly, but now I want to resetthe computer to the state in which it was delivered to me.

When I access the Repair my computer option at boot the option to restore to factory default is now missing.

I know that the reovery partiotion is still on the disk, I hav checked in disk management and even viewed the content in Minitool Partition.

So my question is, how do I link the recovery partition to the repair my computer option, or otherwise launch the recovery?

Sometimes the 'restore to default' option is actually a sub menu...not sure exactly what your setup is.

When I did this once it took me a couple tries to find the correct option.

When you reinstalled windows, at the very least you screwed up the bcd (boot configuration data).

You might be able to recreate it if that is all you did with bcedit or maybe something like dualbootpro, but without knowing what that original configuration is you are likely whistling past the graveyard.

Talk to your laptop tech support....maybe they will backup an existing bcd that you can import onto your machine.

But again, that's assuming all you did was overwrite that...changes are you did something more
