I have an Acer 5500z, and it came with it's 60GB hard drive split into 2 with both at FAT32. I converted the second part to NTFS immediately after I got the bloatware removed. Now I am not sure if I should convert my other partition to NTFS since it holds the core system files. Can anyone tell me if it will be safe to convert that remaining partition to NTFS? I'm using Windows XP Home on this computer....Thanks for any replies!

It's okay to change the C partition to NTFS from the factory default of FAT32. The reason why acer have it at FAT32 is so that their windows recovery utility (erecovery) can work. If you ever have to recover windows (using acer's erecovery) once windows is reinstalled partition C will be back at FAT32 and you will need to convert to NTFS again.

Watch out for cluster size when converting.
