    Hi everyone at NBR,

To preface, I don't know if this belongs in Windows OS, Hardware, or even on NBR at all. I just know you guys are knowledgeable and thought I'd reach out. I am using Windows Vista 32-bit.

I just got back from a trip to Tahoe, where I took my new 14mp camera for a spin. Upon returning, I inserted its 16GB memory card into my computer to copy the files off.

My camera partitions the photos it takes into chronological folders, with each folder maxing out at 200 photos each. I began to copy the first of my 3 folders [blahblah100] onto the computer, but realized I didn't copy it to the right place, and near-immediately canceled the transfer.

I looked back at my memory card - the pictures are gone! The folder "blahblah100" exists, but claims to be empty and have 0KB of data in it. HOLY CRAP, 200 of my photos just vanished off the face of the earth. I woke up at 5AM to catch the sunrise for those photos!

The last thing, though, is that while "blahblah100" claims to be an empty folder, its cover has thumbnails of the now-vanished pictures. Regular empty folders have no thumbnails because they don't have anything in them!

It leads me to wonder: Is there any way for my memory card to retrieve that data? Is the data still in the card, and it simply can no longer read it? Were they all sent to TEMP files and have vanished since I have now restarted my computer?

The copy process was literally 15 seconds underway when I canceled, and I don't physically think the computer could have put all the data *anywhere*, it's 800MB from a class-10 memory card. So, is the data still in the card, and the bridges to it are severed?

I don't know enough about operating systems to make any more metaphors for what just happened to me. All I know is, these photos mean the world to my girlfriend and I, and if anyone knows how to re-link these kinds of damaged folders, I would greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks so much,
    Batman

WHABAM! They are back! In 0.23 seconds Recuva found my 242 pictures which had vanished. Thank you so much for showing me this software tool, it really is an invaluable safeguard for clumsy clickers like me!

I will spread the word, and thanks once again for the swift reply!

    Sleeping soundly tonight,
    Batman
