    HELP! i think everything on my external hdd is gone!

    i wanted to hide a couple of the hardrive software files ion the external, i guess i clicked apply to all subfolders (thinking only the folder i selected would get hidden) but now everything is hidden! the space is still taken up so i know thier somewhere but i cant find them i went to ctrl panel and clicked show all hidden folders but the files are still missing. all my familys pictures are in thin air! :eek:

    im in vista x32 BTW.

    Open the directory of the HDD and Go to the 'Organize' menu, 'Folder and Search Options', and under the 'View' tab, select 'Show hidden files and folder'. Click OK and all of the files should appear.

    EDIT: sorry, misread the post, try using Recuva, it will scan for deleted files on a drive. www.recuva.com

    Have you tried doing an advanced search yet?

    If you do that make sure you click on search hidden files and folders, then as the files start appearing open the containing folder and check the properties. If it says they are still hidden uncheck the box and try again.

    You really should first try using the advanced search option. If that did not help then do use Recuva.
