I just got my new Dell 1530 XPS and i'm trying to download Skype from a deployed location in Kyrgyzstan at an wireless interenet cafe and i keep recieving this message.

First i get a notification at about 10% saying publisher can not be varified do u want to continue. (or similar wording) I hit Run. Right after that this box pops up.

    C:/Users/david/appData/local/microsoft/Windows/Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5/RXM71M6F\SkypeSetup[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application

my wife just bought a skype web cam for the house and i wanted to chat with my daughter so if u could please help me quickly. Thanks a lot.

Try downloading it to your desktop instead of your temp folder. Make sure you selected the version for windows 32 bit (x86). PM me if it doesn't work and I'll send you a FTP link so you can download it from me.

The downloaded file is not complete.Save it to c: and try again.

If you are in cafe then it could be that you can;t access the location where it is saved.Save elsewhere and see if it helps.

I just followed the direction and it said to just hit run instead of save but i should have know better i guess. Hopefully this will work and thx for the quick replies if it works by 2 year old will be very happy :) :D

Ok saving it to the C: didnt work either. I clicked on computer, C: creadted a new folder. Named it Skype and downloaded the program to that folder. I received the same error as before just shoter tittle.

I then deleted it and tried to save it to the desktop and it would say download complete after about 5 seconds and thats def. not right and it still didnt work that. Any more ideas? or did i do something wrong? I've never had prob. downloading things before but this is a new computer and i'm new to vista. not sure if either of those have anything to do with it.

Try to download skype under another username and see if the issues persist.

OK guys I'm not sure if its me, vista, new comp or bad internet but while downloading the skype beta. Which by the way is at 79% so maybe this one will work. I was trying to down load DVD Shrink and it downloaded fine or so i thought. When i try to run it i get this message.
could not initialize installlation. File size expected=3137120, size returned=2806224. he parameter is incorrect
    any help?

BAAAh this crappy internet just shut off and came back on. Is there any way to continue the down load of Skype or am i just S.O.L and have to start all over another day. It had taken about 1 1/2 hr to get to 80% lol really slow internet.

What do u mean? I havent created an account yet i was just trying to down load the program. Figured i would have to set up the program after words.

Any idea why the down load didnt work for dvd shrink eather? I have a feeling it has to do with Vista but not sure.
