I am buying a laptop for a friend and shipping it overseas but before I do that I would like to know if there are ANY STRESS TEST PROGRAMS ou there that I can use to run extensevily on the laptop to test ALL of the hardware parts?

So if this way soemthing has to fail it would hopefully fail right away?

I have researched this but since I have never used this nor heard of it I am not sure if I am searching this issue properly.

    Thank you all again.

for cpu, you can use orthos or prime95. i believe one of them also stresses the ram.

Get The Ultimate Boot CD. Free download, plenty of test and burn-in software.

Any hardware may fail at any time. That couldn't determined by any test. It's all about the luck.

I run the wPrime 1.55 stress test, memtest86+, and 3DMark05 on every computer I build. Not ideal tests - wPrime and 3DMark05 are completing set operations rather than by running for a set time - but wPrime runs for about 20 minutes on most dual-core CPUs and that's really long enough to see if you have any major off-the-bat problems. Finding a GPU stress test is harder, but I use several consecutive runs of 3DMark05 os the CS:S stress test; usually turns up the problem if there is one.

    thank you all.

i understand that hardware can go bad anytime and it is all about being lucky these days... but i still think that running these stress tests might help a bit.

i heard some people running strees tests for 24 or so... what are they using? does anyone? or is it pretty much any of the above sofwares that you guys mentioned?
