Yeah this is not allowed by MS, I have known the trick but you have to share it among yourselves because its "Vista Ultimate Exclusive" and if you make it not so then its basically unauthorized hacking and they lose a sales pitch.

A LEGAL work around is to use VCL Player (I belive its VCL it may be another) and it has a "play in background" function, then you can turn any video into a movie background just like dreamscene, in fact you even get more options this way.

Dreamscene is pretty but after a few minutes the moving background is more annoying than pretty when trying to work, and some movies eat up cpu power like OMG. So I never actually use it even on my desktop wich has Ultimate x64 installed. If i want a pretty picture to be there when I am not working, a screen saver would be better, but I turn off my monitor :p

BS player offers the play in background option, it might be a better alternative than the IMHO buggy as hell VCL player.

I tried the VLC Player trick before and it NEVER worked! I could never gfind the set as wallpaper option when I played the video although I followed the instrcutions carefully.

No thanks i'd rather have the real DreamScene FTW

DreamScene is specifically marketed as Vista Ultimate ONLY...and MS allows only for that. Thread closed.
