It is really annoying that I have to maximize IE everytime I open it!

Note: This is a two part modification. Complete both parts as listed below.

    [Start] [Run] [Regedit]
    Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console
Modify/Create the Value Name [FullScreen] according to the Value Data listed below.
Data Type: REG_DWORD [Dword Value] // Value Name: FullScreen
    Value Data: [0 = Disabled / 1 = Enabled]

    [Start] [Run] [Regedit]
    Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Main
Modify/Create the Value Name [FullScreen] according to the Value Data listed below.
Data Type: REG_SZ [String Value] // Value Name: FullScreen
Value Data: [Modify Value to (Yes)]

    Exit Registry and Reboot

When I open IE (which I almost never do), it opens maximized.

If I ever need to view something in IE full-screen, I just push F-11. I've NEVER had a need to have IE open in full-screen mode. I want the taskbar to be available.

So wait, let me guess. You found this online somewhere, copied and pasted it here, then tried it on your computer to see if it works?

Before even messing with windows registry, make sure you back it up(file-export)

Also if you found this on another site/forum, please mention them because they deserve some credit.

I have never had a problem with ie opening maximized (nor do i use it) in xp or vista, but if you do, the easy fix is to right click the icon > properties > shortcut tab. pull down the menu where it says 'run' and change it to maximized.
