I have been searching for almost 2 weeks and i have come to the conclusion that either the drivers don't exist or that i'm computer illiterate. I Have a HP DV 6500 Notebook Entertainment PC , ive tryed contacting hp for drivers and the ones that they provided for me do no fix the problems, i have NO sound and there are no video drivers installed . Everything else seems to work fine . When i go to the hp website i did a scan to see what model i have because i thought maybe that was the issue , when i scan on the hp website its saying i have the dv6629wm so i need the drivers for that. im all out of idea anyone know what i should do ?

If your computer illiterate then how did you get ahold of an XP disc and install it your self? You must know somthing. Also if you look in the hp fourms you will find the drivers. I cant belive with windows 7 less then a year away and vista out for 2 years people are still downgrading to xp. Why what is wrong with vista?

I do know quite a , the problem is that hp doesn't have or provide drivers for a windows xp install because they come pre loaded with windows vista. vista just runs extremly horrible on the laptop it has been that way since i got it. so i finally decided to get rid of it. ive looked on the hp forums and couldn't find drivers..

Installing Windows XP on the Intel based dvx500t Serie
This guide is NOT for laptops with the AMD CPU. These drivers will NOT work and PLEASE dont install the intel chipset on your AMD laptops! thanks.
For the people who read the posts that im making if you missed the original ive got the AMD based dv6500 ( dv6629wm ) thanks for the try miner! i know the drivers are out there just gotta located them.. getting furious its taking forever -
Oops, my fault. However, I would suggest this thread instead(its for the dv6600 but it should work for any of the dv6500 through dv6900 AMD based series with some modifications considering they have very similar hardware)...
