I dual-booted XP with lot of troubles...needed some tools to restore Bootloader as it gets screwed up when XP is installed.
I noticed XP doesnt have any drivers.. Duh!....so i called up HP (see signature for Laptop specs n model)
Conversation:
Me: Hi!.. I dualbooted Xp with my Vista..i want to know where to get drivers for my computer ..Model is Presario F577
Hewlett packard technical assistance officer of Singapore says: Your laptop serial no. pls ......(2 min pause)...Sorry sir, we dont support XP anymore. You wont get drivers on our website too. Everyone has upgraded to Vista.
Me: Vista is not an upgrade..it is slow, sluggish. u shud support XP.Anyway, u dont support any XP based computers anymore?
Officer: Very little support. But Drivers are no more supported...We are sorry, ...blah blah blah...
I hung up
Where to Get XP drivers for Compaq Presario F577 AU?
Even network drivers are absent so i need Broadcom drivers.
Can i get them under one roof or i have to hunt each of them down?

Search for an older HP model having a similar spec, IĀm sure HP has many (most probably using exact same hardware).
Upgrade your RAM, Vista is not that slow compared to XP for normal tasks. -
HP only supports XP for their business line.
-
Vista is still an upgrade over XP regardless of what a few disgruntled users without enough RAM think. I've had nothing but glorious stability under Vista - something I never had with XP. The latter was always a nervous wait until the next unexpected reboot whilst typing up essays....
As already posted, look for drivers concerning your hardware on older models. -
2 GB DDR2 RAM is enough for Vista 32-bit ...
Look, for the work i do..i cant use Vista..it just doesnt Work..
Are there third-party sites for XP drivers for HP laptops?.. -
What can't you get to work on vista?
-
File Transfer too slow, Driver Issues for Various Devices, Explorer Crashes too often, Poor Framerate for Games, Gaming servers Lag too much on Vista.
Etc etc etc.
I want performance not looks -
then get windows 2000 if u want performance.....and btw vista has way better dual-core performance then xp does, just go into services and disable what you dont want and download the service pack. Vistas been faster then xp for me, better battery life, ya it uses more ram, but christ, I bought the ram, i want my system to use it, and dont say that all ur ram will get used up, i can play crysis with itunes and firefox open and its not at 1.5gb. Id say give vista with the service pack a shot for a bit, i noticed a huge difference by the service pack.

Is SP easy to install or Complex affair ?
-
On the original question (subject), HP does not "Hate XP", nor are they "helpless". They have simply made the decision not to support an OS that is 6 years old.
-
Just tell me where to get XP drivers my Dear Friend...if i had titled the topic as 'HELP ME plsssss' no one would give a damn..so i had to give Relevance.
..simple logic
-
Check the HP forum. There is a sticky post about how to install XP on HP systems.
-
thats better..will check it out
-
i have a very important question since i'm new here
what is a sticky ????? -
as regard the hp and xp thing .. i emailed hp for support they basicly said .. we will not support xp for ur model nor have drivers for it . it has been built for vista and that's what ur gonna get .. even tho in the drivers page of my model they have some xp drivers lol ..
i also asked them why did u ship a core 2 duo notebook with a 32bit os instead of a x64 .. they didn't have an answer for that either
i hear some people got xp to work using drivers from other models with the same hw .. gonna be alot of hit and miss tho(too much trouble)
and vista sp1 is not that slow actually! -
For XP drivers, go to Device Manager and write down all the "Hardware Ids" of the devices you need. Then go to google and search for the drivers. You will mostly find them, some will be from other manufacturers, but as long as they're the same Hardware Ids, it should work. -
