Hi, so on moday i recieved my Brand new HP Nc 8430 in the post and today, as i had the time to do some serious work on it i have managed to reinstal the OS with some tinyXP and get all the driver and software i want on this thing. Its great. Soo much better. But i am looking for two piece of software to help me finish it.
The first is some fingerprint id software. I have the drivers for my authentec fingerprint scanner but need an altenitive to instaling the whole of HP Protect tools software (everything is working just fine without them).
Secondly, im kinda new to recovery discs and the like, and am led to believe that by making a new one of my current setup i could restore all my current files and configeration if things go wrong. Without having to go through all the really lenthy instal of the little laptop bits (took me 2-3 hours including format). Is there a good freeware program that might do this for me. Or should i get HP's recovery thing. Or does it not work like this?
Thanks for your help, certain members faqs have already helped me get this far with minimal hastle.
Jonny
ps. I aim on writing up a story of my conversion from desktop to laptop experiences if there is interest.

Did you not save SWSetup?

Yeh i did all that. My setup disc didn't find the hard disc at first, so i looked on the forums, disabled the sata thing and burnt the swsetup and followed the guide. Worked great but took time, and if i can find a way to not have to go through it again, it would be nice, if not intirely nessessary.
