I read elswhere on the forums that, to upgrade from xp to vista you need the xp installation disc and the serial number.
As I bought a HP laptop with XP already installed I dont have a cd, I only have the option to create recovery discs, if I create them will these do? Also I dont think I have a serial number either, I heard you can find it on the laptop box but I threw it out![]()
any help will be greatly appreciated.![]()

What upgrade path are you taking? You don't need the recovery cd's for xp or the serial number for the notebook. If you were doing the HP Express upgrade you would need only the serial number and sales reciept but you will only be covered if you purchased your notebook from them after October 2006, otherwise you'll have to buy the upgrade DVD.

Did you buy the notebook from HP after October 2006?
