Hey I'm not sure what happened, but my HP laptop I've got dual booted with Windows 7 won't unmute. The quickplay touch buttons worked once I updated everything and worked for a week or 2.

However now the "mute" touch button is stuck red (meaning the computer's muted) and cuz of that no sound is coming out. I can press it, and the little speaker in the bottom right corner of the screen will have the mute icon mute and unmute like normal. I can make the screen icon show it's unmuted, and i can turn up the volume etc. But cuz that quickplay button is stuck on red mute, no sound is coming out. Not sure what to do to update/change this etc. Suggestions? I dunno what i could have done to change this

I'd look at what Windows 7 updates were installed recently - it might have messed up the HP software. Then, I'd reinstall the HP software and see if it fixes the problem.

There is an update to QuickLaunch on the HP support web site.

i figured it out, it was kinda dumb. I hooked the laptop up via HDMI to my tv the other day, and to get audio thru the TV i had it set to the HDMI audio as "default" in the "playback devices"

Well that turned the speaker icon red (why i dont know) but regardless, the laptop was stuck tryin to put audio to HDMI, even when i went into playback devices and disabled HDMI. What i had to do was RECONNECT the hdmi cable so in playback devices it would let me set the laptop speakers as "default" again, cuz it wouldn't let me reset them as default while the HDMI was not connected. Pretty stupid if ya ask me lol
