    Computer evaluation software?

A simple exe, with a "bechmark" inside and several other things to gradually give you an idea of your machine. Just wanted to share it with you guys :)

Looks pretty cool. Other system monitor programs do a lot of the same, but it can be hard to find one that does so much in one package. If it's freeware like a lot of competing programs, then I'll probably keep a copy around.

Ah yes. I was unsure of where to make this thread. Hopefully a mod can do me the favor of moving it.

This doubles as a really nice system information utility, actually. The data it provides looks like it's [nearly] on par with what the popular HWINFO program does too (although I have to say, the interface looks slightly cleaner and more streamlined/user friendly). Thanks for the post!

This might be helpful (link showing supported hardware): HWM BlackBox | Özellikler

Also, some users reported a missing .dll file. I don't know if this is prevalent in the most recent edition, but to avoid it, download the program from the developer's site (as opposed to a file hosting site, such as filehippo or cnet).

Does anyone know if there is a portable version of this? I currently use the portable version of SIW to assess system information; it also is included in Hiren's Boot CD. But I wouldn't mind trying HWM out in lieu of it.

Bit of a thread resurrection - I can't get my HWM BlackBox to validate. Every time I click the validation link I get their login page and I log in, but there's nothing there about validating the software. I'm assuming I need to validate because a lot of the values are blank, though maybe it just doesn't have a very complete hardware database to search through.

Also, how does validation work on a program like this? Since it's just an .exe I assume it must make a registry entry that it checks every time it starts up, but that's just a guess.

I'm guessing it reads registry values and device information already stored for internal use for the system to assign device IDs, resources, etc.

Which web browser are you using for validation? Perhaps there is a problem with the page's script.

Also, thanks for the notification about it being portable! :)

I'm using Chrome, which does occasionally fail with scripts. I can't do any online banking here in China on Chrome, for example. I'll have to change my default browser to try IE, I guess.

You can give Lunascape a whirl. It's capable of utilizing any of the three engines - from KDE (Chrome), Gecko (Firefox), or Trident (IE). That way you don't have to have multiple browsers installed - you can change your engine from the browser's interface. :D
