Yes, sadly enough it must be from Best Buy. I currently have Norton, but I suspect my somewhat slowing performance was because of it.

I was thinking Trend Micro, but I don't know how it stacks up. I've never gotten infected with Norton (and I'd stick with Norton if other utilities were not as effective in prevention), so anything new MUST be that good.

Get rid of Norton. It was causing my Aunt's computer to take 30+ seconds when opening a simple .doc file. EVERY time. Go with AVG or something similar.

Do you have a gift card you need to use up? I can't really think of a good reason to buy AV software from Best Buy, especially because I can't really think of a good reason to buy AV software period.

Trend Micro is a solid AV solution. It is also much lighter than Norton, but both offer great protection. Remember that antivirus is not about taking up the least amount of room, rather, that is a pleasant side effect. You buy an antivirus for more frequent updates, and rock-solid protection.

It's like buying something just to show it off. Yeah, that's always nice, but at the end of the day your purchase needs to do its job.

I've used TM and never experienced problems, though now use Kaspersky. I've read that Nod is excellent, and the newest version of Norton, believe it or not, is also supposed to be a very good and relatively lightweight program.

Is your intent on using a single program for the sake of convenience or an money issue? I guess you realize that you don't have to actually pay for a good protection? AVG and Avast are both pretty fair programs. Spyware Blaster can help keep crap from loading onto your machine. Spybot and Adaware are both good, and I'm sure a bit of research could find a few more anti-malware programs as well and free firewalls.
