Ive got an advent 7555GX (based on the msi GT725) with vista home, and before running a defragmentation i had 101gb used space and 186 free space on drive C. Now afterwards ive got 119gb used space and 167gb free space.

Laptop is classed as 320gb but actual total capacity is 287gb. I dont see how 100gb can be used up. I had a look on the properties of each folder within the drive and the total comes to 72.40gb. Thats includes everything more or less as theres only 1 HD in my laptop ~ program files, windows folder, applications etc

Theres 25gb of space missing, does anyone know what could be happening?
    Cheers

get Tune-up utilities 2010... Its a great utilities with many tools which will speed up ur laptop and get rid off all the unnecessary stuff like ur system restore and temporary files...

I once made the mistake to make my hard drive space smaller. I thought it would 'shrink' my stored files and give me more room while it simply gave me less and less free hard drive space everytime I was messing with my hard drives xD

"unnecessary" is relative here, I think. Unless you actually have an accute need to free up some space, you might as well leave sys restore, temp files, etc in place for whatever small peformance and security benefit they provide. After all, unless you get off on having a big number in the "free space" field on your HDD status, empty HDD space is really doing you nothing, so you might as well let the system put it to use for something.
