Hello, I have an odd problem for everybody to chew on.

I originally had a 320GB Samsung 320HJ 5400 RPM as an external USB drive.

I got a optical bay drive caddy today and put that drive in there. So when this drive was in the USB, if I left it plugged in and turned on the computer, it would hang at the post with that little cursor at the top left corner.

I thought it was just trying to boot off of the HDD so I shrugged it off. But now I use it as a SATA connection and the problem is back.
I also thought it was because it was a FAT32 drive before so I reformatted it and it's now NTFS. Problem is still here though.

Also, within my BIOS I can see my 2 internal HDD and the eSATA one I have. But during the boot order I can only select this stupid Samsung HDD, not my old WD5000BEKT (the only option is Hard disk : PO : Samsung 320HJ).

I thought it may be because it's set as a primary partition but then I see my eSATA drive is also set as primary partition and it's not causing problems. I guess I should try to maybe set it not as a primary partition but I can't see anywhere that allows me to do this.

Any help to solve this would be appreciated. As a side note, I can boot up by manually selecting a boot device but it doesn't do it automatically.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the new HDD is SATA1 and I have intel rapid storage installed.

    MSI E7405.

Forgot to mention that the new HDD is SATA1. Which shouldn't really make a diff since it's backwards compatible.

It could be a glitch because the 2nd SATA connector was tested to work with Internal Optical Drive not harddisk.

I've installed Linux on the second HDD and edited its boot file to point to the Windows partition.

issues solved and I get a chance to work with Ubuntu.
