    Hardrive 30% Fragmented

    Hey guys im using diskeeper to defrag my hardrive and it says its 30% fragmented even after I defrag the folder thats fragmented is \$Extend\$UsnJml [excess allocation] I googled it seem to be something about vista fragmenting usn journal can someone help me out its really bugging me and messing up my defrag programs.

    PS I used Diskeeper O&O defrag and Perfectdisk defrag the MFT and Paging files. still doesnt help

    Check the log and see what files are fragmented...It could be sys files or backups....

    I personally think your defrag app is telling you bull. Try installing this and use it to defrag. If you still have that 30% fragmented then it's not your app.

    I've tried Diskeeper and that program tends to get a little trigger-happy; its always defragging. Try UltraDefrag or AusLogics Defrag.

    That's one of the prime selling points of Diskeeper. It is always defragging in the background so you never have to worry about it. Also, it uses only Idle resources so it isn't really slowing down your computer.

    thing is im used three defrag programs diskeeper perfect disk and o&o defrag ill try the one you suggested

    I'd also say that its one of the prime weak points; it cripples your computer's performance 24/7.

    It's best not to run too many defrag programs. One is fine. They may defrag differently and mess with the others way of doing things. My experience.

    yah i got rid of all of them and kept diskeeper anyone know what the usnjournal thing is it keeps poping up on my defrags after i delete it
