    Windows To Go

I'm interested in trying it out but I want to be able to load it on my choice of media (I have a Leaf Supra 32GB drive that I would like to test if from).

It would be nice to have a 'personal' desktop ready to deploy if I was somewhere without one of my own computers.

So, has anyone here gave it a shot yet? Was it easy to setup and deploy? Feedback?

Found a little tutorial that should let you bypass the requirement for a 'certified' device.

Windows 8 To Go - Setup on a USB Flash Drive or USB Disk

Give it a go now but the imagex command/step is going to take quite some time....

Very nice! Get a fast USB 3.0 64GB stick and you should be good to go. Otherwise it would be painfully slow compared to running off SSD. For best use, get the myDigitalSSD USB 3.0 mSATA SSD enclosure, with a 64GB or 128GB mSATA SSD and it will fly.

I did this years ago, the only thing I can say is: use USB 3.0.
...but you knew that already. :)

    Thanks guys.

I started the process last night but needed up hitting the sack before it finished so this morning I'll continue on. The drive I'm using is a USB3.0 Leaf Supra.

The 'Microsoft' process will actually restrict the drive you use to those that are 'certified', here's to hoping this other method works.

Make sure you get a good USB drive with high 4K performance, SLC/MLC NAND and static wear leveling.

I accidentally Sandisk Extreme. I ordered a 64GB drive few days before this thread was started and it finally arrived today. Pretty fast, even thru regular USB2.0.

I'm planning to try out Windows to Go with 8.1 and maybe Win7 too. Could be that won't use either but anyways now I have a really fast flash drive :D
