if you want to, yes. but be warned, drivers can be a huge hazzle, and chances are big that the xp cd doesn't know sata, and thus can't even see the hdd to install on.

is it worth it? i'd say no.

If you wan to install Windows XP,
Back-up or burn the BUILD-IN vista to a recovery CD(included windows vista and drivers/application for vista). So, you can install your VISTA again if you don't like XP.
    After install XP,
you would need to find those drivers and application installers for your laptop because Vista drivers/application installers are not same as XP.
Sometime, you can't find those installers and eventually can't install or use the driver.

I do not recommend XP because Windows 7 is going to release soon.
XP seems to be ancient after all.
Now, you have your vista and just let it be. Vista is better than XP.
    However, some people disagreed.

    Yup! It is not worthy!

Installing XP is not a good choice. After XP installation, you will find difficulties as devepermen mentioned.

No guys but the thing is I made a list of game that I want to buy and 80% can run on both and 20% only run on xp so I see no reason why I want to use vista. Also you say burn the vista on to cd can you tell me more about that??? And after that what do I do....delete all the vista or what???? I know about the driver bit where you need to download all the running program thingiwe but just the back up bit and after backup xp installing bit I need to know more....thank-you!

if a game is from 2004, then it WON'T mentoin vista, as vista didn't exist then. that does NOT mean it does not work on vista.

tell the game names, or google around yourself to find out if it works on vista. most old apps work on vista. only dos based 16bit or so apps don't work. it really depends, but most should work.

It also depends on what the particular hardware is - some OEMs will provide XP-compatible drivers much more readily than other OEMs will.

Just install the games on Vista and see if they work. Microsoft products have remarkable backwards-compatibility, and you can always try using the Compatibility Modes as well. If you run into problems, post more specific details - there isn't really any reason why older games that can run on XP can't also run on Vista.
