I had it installed a while ago, but I didn't really have any desire to switch from Firefox. I liked the mouse gestures, but the novelty wore out fast. There weren't many features that made it stand out from Firefox or other browsers.

It was worth trying, but it wasn't the long term browsing solution I was looking for. Hopefully Opera will make for a good Firefox replacement.

I tried Avant...it's nice, but it's definitely no Firefox killer. It's also pretty much completely unnecessary now that we have the fairly stable and actually slightly more secure IE7 Beta.

I also used Opera 8.5 for a while, and again, went back to Firefox. Opera was ultimately just way too bloated for my tastes.

It should be noted that one of the chief reasons for ditching IE is security. Since Avant IE's engine, it IS IE, just a "skinned" version similar to he one many ISP's supply. Because of this it is as vulnerable as IE is. Not to say it does not have good features or anything as I have never tried it, but keep in mind you are no more secure than IE.

I can't recommend it. I downloaded and installed it... Always had an error when I tried to close the program.

I have a friend who loves Avant. It's not a bad browser. I'm not sure how it compares in terms of popup and spyware blocking, but at the minimum it should be an improvement over IE.

There's several extensions you can install for firefox that also allows you to do mouse gestures, you can take a look https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/39/ and https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/12/ are two of them.
