    Have you used the briefcase in Windows XP?

    Just wanted to get some info about how Windows briefcase works and what exactly it does from people who have had experience. Thanks.

    I have no real use for briefcase, but it comes in handy when I want to move files without actually moving it from it current location. The same results you get when dragging files from differ partitions or drives.

    I really never got in to syncing with briefcase.

    The syncing is exactly what I am interested in.

    Here is what I would like to do.

    I do lots of engineering work on both my laptop and desktop. Sometimes I will work from one, other time the other. Sometimes I don't keep up to date with which files are on which machine. I would like a way to quick and easily update the folders I am working out of with the most recent files.

    I'll have to play around a bit and perhaps make a post about it.

    I do much the same sort of thing using a folder shared over my local network and a program called Unison.

    If it is not too slow for you just use a usb stick with the files on it.

    Also becarefull with the briefcase... I once lost a bunch of files when trying it out. Dont ask me what i did...

    I personally like the SyncBack Freeware V3.2.14. It's way more transparent than briefcase, and gives you more options and control. This is what briefcase should have been.
