Who else is having trouble installing 10.5?

I've been over at the Apple boards and it seems like plenty of PC users have issue, especially the Win7 x64 bunch.

There seems to be a bunch of workarounds that work for SOME people.

I'm getting errors like "Application Support" not found. "Apple mobile device can't be started."

Keep in mind that all of these problems occur during install. I've already tried uninstalling all Apple stuff, clearing the registry, etc etc. No luck. I've tried downloading the standalone installer, no luck. I've tried via Apple software update, no luck.

    Anyone here having better luck?

installed it fresh on a brand spanking new HP win7 pro x64 sp1 desktop.
    updated vista business x64 sp2 from 10.4 to 10.5
updated xp pro xp3 from 10.2 to 10.5 fine

off top my head possible related to microsoft C++ redistributals? i loathe itunes and quicktime on my personal machines and use QTLite which requires the 2005 sp1 redist if not installed. all of those PC's i was successful with had 2005,2008,2010 x86&64 redists installed prior

Remove all Apple related software first.

Download the installer for iTunes. Use something like 7zip to extract the contents of the installer package. Delete the software update package. Install everything else before the iTunes64.msi. Once done, launch command prompt as administrator and navigate to the folder that has the iTunes64.msi. Type the following:

    msiexec.exe /i iTunes64.msi /quiet

Wait 2 to 3 minutes. Then restart your computer. You should be able to use iTunes now.

This worked for me on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

The only trouble I had was it complained about my Flash. After removing the new 64 bit Flash and installing 32 bit only iTunes loaded up without a hitch. Then you can go put 64 bit back on if you want to.

WHOOPS! Forget that, that was a problem I had with Nero 11, not iTunes.
