I installed and started using it, but thought that it wasn't working because it kept saying something to the effect "connecting...(in the process of connecting to a server)" when I pressed the 'enable' button. And the Internet started to lag horrendously. So I closed the program with Task Manager.

It worked when I thought I closed it with Task Manager, (internet lagged a bit, but not as much as before) IP was changed), and I couldn't see SpotFlux in dock so I was scrambling to find the program to tinker with it but when I searched it in my Pokki (Windows 8 starter menu ) it only catched "Start Spotflux" which I guess starts the program from the start all over again (the message "would you like to give permission for this program to make changes" pops up). And then it had OpenVPN error (1) but still works (IP is changed, it's a bit faster than before but still slow)

But when I minimized it it disappeared from the dock and the icon, but my IP is still changed all the same, but I can't click the enable/disable button to change my IP address or turn off to start torrenting again (torrenting doesn't work while this program is on).

Sooo... are you trying to get rid of it, or just get it to work properly? If the latter, then you may need to re-install it. If you don't mind using an alternative, then you can use a proxy server to hide your IP address, or change your IP address manually in the IPv4 protocol properties for your connection.

P.S. setting your IP address to Dynamic will cause your IP address to be subject to change as your router sees fit. But you cannot change your internet service provider's assiged IP address - only changes can be made on the end-user side.

I'm trying to turn it off so I can
    1) torrent again
    2) change the IP address by clicking "disable" then "enable"

If your configurations/options are no longer available, then I would say just uninstall it. If you really want it though, re-install it again and see if you get your options back. Or if the built-in installer for it has a repair option that you can access, try that.

Also, depending on your torrent client, you should be able to mask your IP (e.g. use a proxy) within the torrent program's settings. You can also have it randomize which port to use.

I tried the repair and reinstalling but the same problem persisted, and then the internet stopped working all together and I deleted the program.

Cnet's review stated that it needs to be disabled and then restarted in order to work. The tester noted that they had the problem with Chrome until they re-enabled the program.

But as for your Settings conundrum, the program might not be optimized for Windows 8, which could be causing your problem.

Corrupt account? Is it a Windows account or is it on the Mac OSX?

Maybe I should use another proxy software. Can anyone recommend one? I heard Tor is slow.

You don't have to use software to use a proxy server to mask yourself. There are sites you can use to accomplish the same thing without installing anything.

I can't recommend any software personally, and rather than throwing a few programs at you, it's best you test the waters yourself if that's what you want to do, so that you can see what works best for your connection and who's interface you prefer, etc.
