Just changed my laptop from XP to Vista
I installed the iTunes, but No matter how I import songs or list, the library and the list keeps losing when I restart the iTunes. Believe me I have reinstalled the itunes and everythng.
I didnt just import the list from my old computer but I did drag and drop and make lists again manually!
Anyone knows how I can fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

Try installing it in a different folder - one you've created yourself. Vista doesn't like it when things are installed to the C:\Program Files directory, so that could be causing you some problems. It tries to limit the write permissions of files in that directory.

Try installing it in another partition or in your own folder, like C:\Apps\iTunes

You can try also deleting the "iTunes Library.itl" file and then editing the "iTunes Library (Damaged).itl" file by deleting the word "(Damaged)". Then let Itunes re-analyse the "songs".

    Sometimes it does the trick.

    cheers ...

uhm, no, vista does like it when you install stuff at the default location, because THAT IS what the default location is made for.

you have to check up where itunes stores it's data. should be in your users music folder. possibly purge all in there.

Yes and no - it depends on the kind of permissions that the program wants/needs. Vista is very protective of the default location, and if programs aren't written correctly for that, it causes problems.

Anyways, back on topic, when you add music to your library, do you copy it to your iTunes folder, or just choose "add file" and have it remember where the files are?

I put my files I want to put in the iTunes to a self-made folder, say, D:Music before I drag them into iTunes, it shouldnt have been any problems about the directory.
Some ppl told me its the problem of "iTunes Library.itl", so I replaced the "iTunes Library.itl" file with the old one I have in my old computer. And the problems was kinda fixed at the moment.
But the thing is, when I restart the computer, the library goes back to blank and turns out the "iTunes Library.itl" I dragged from my old computer disappeared.
