Help!: Cannot get Microsoft Office 2007/2010 to work on W7 machine

Went to install Office 2007 on my Alienware machine today via an office disc I have. I've used this disc on several machines in the past, never a single issue.

I booted up the Office 2007 installer disc and after everything installs ok I click on Word and get a "Please wait while windows configures Microsoft office professional hybrid 2007". This happens everytime I click on Word or any other office program. The programs never load up at all.

So I decided I'd remove 2007 and try an Office 2010 trial. The same thing happens with that, but instead I get a ""Please wait while windows configures Microsoft single image 2010" and it happens on every office program I click, and I never get to use the program.

I've done some googling tried some registry edits, but nothing has worked. I'm at a loss on how to fix this, as it seems no matter what version of Office I try I cannot get it working. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

does it ask for the licence key every time you try to load it.
also where did you get the 2007 version.
there was a special offer in the uk for health service workers and schools back in 07 which gave a very cheap offer for the full package. that licence was revoked a year later by microsoft for some reason and all the people that bought the disc legaly got an email warning they were now using an illegal version and to remove it immediately.
BUT
as its also affecting the trial as well then i have no idea.

download cc cleaner and run a registry clean in safe mode as there might be some old crap preventing the new version from loading.

 

I recently bought an alienware and had a problem with office 2007 not working. However, i uninstalled it and then installed it again and it worked perfectly the second time. Maybe that will work for you?!

 

It doesnt ask me for the serial everytime, it just runs the set up stuff I mentioned above. I've uninstalled it and cleaned up with cc cleaner already too.

No idea why theres an issue. What issues did you have Ozman?

 

That was a month ago so I'm trying to remember. I think it was telling me that i couldn't register it even though i had the key code and i purchased the program legitimately. I remember i was upset about it! But i also had to reinstall windows to set up my cache drive so maybe that's why it worked the second time. Sorry... wish i was more help.

 

Try running the installer as an Administrator, and make sure beforehand that there are no other existing versions of Office already present/installed.
