Problem always updated on last page!
Ok, a friend of mine is trying to use an old computer since his is broken.
Apparently the Windows XP computer has server running on it, but I am not sure.
The computer has 3 accounts on it according to User Accounts. It has:
admin
Administrator
tcox (a made User Account)
Next to the Admin and Administrator it says "Domain" and they are both
CCSDVA03
CCSDVA03
And tcox is Domain
CC
Under System properties it says the computer is registered to Admin, with Windows XP SP3 installed.
The internet is hooked up and we can get AOL to run fine. The only problem is IE or FF are not working and wont connect to the internet.
Anyone know the problem?![]()

Did you check the proxy settings of IE and FF? Maybe there is an old proxy set up.
-
There was a Belkin wireless thing attached to one of the computers downstairs.
When they unplugged it and plugged in another one, it started working fine again.
So I don't know really. -
Blame it on Belkin
We have a router that's been a mess after less than 2 years of usage...
At the same time my USB hubs are great. -
Ok well it's not working again. LOL
We restarted the computer, and now it's not working again.
The computer isnt connected wirelessly. It is connected to a router, which is connected to another router.
Any suggestions? -
-
No because the internet works fine through AOL and the Xbox 360.
-
Or the other way round - DHCP off and not assigning an IP address in the computer? -
It seems that when the computer starts up, the Internet does not work on IE or FF, but will work with AOL immediately.
But it seems after a little bit of time, IE and FF will work fine.
Could this just me a connection issue? That IE and FF wont work for a short time after restart?
That would make no sense to me.... -
Try googling that. -
Well I uninstalled AOL.
I have internet on there, because Teamspeak and MSN are running just fine.
But IE or FF does not work.
Does anyone know what to do??.....
Ok, well I tried to uninstall AOL. After a restart, AOL didn't uninstall
But to be honest, I am not sure I want to uninstall because it is the only working browser I have.
IE and FF does NOT work, no matter what I try.
I tried downloading Chrome in AOL, but it said the installer failed.
I am stumped and don't know what to do anymore.
I just noticed that the computer has WinVNC installed on it. When I hover the mouse over it, it shows my IP address.
What is WinVNC for? And does it mess with the internet connection? Could it be the problem?
FF and IE just started working again out of nowhere. But I know as soon as I restart the computer, it won't work. -
Just thinking... you don't have proxy settings for the browser themselves?
Maybe a DNS problem?
I had ICQ work for me in the past while browsers didn't - domain names weren't resolved by the router... -
Proxy settings have been turned on and off, nothing worked.
DNS is set to automatic. I tried manually applying an IP and DNS, but no go.
It's really dumb founded me because I have tried everything.
And out of nowhere, the browsers (not AOL. AOL works no matter what), start out of nowhere.
Will update this tomorrow btw. My friend went to sleep, so I logged off of the Anyplace Control for the night.
