I rebooted Vista and this icon showed up. You will see it between SAV and Asus Security Manager. It has a yellowish lightning thing. What I did:

    1. Clicked on it and it is like it is not there.
    2. Checked the taskbar properties to see what icons I have in there and it does not show up.

    Any help?

Does that icon have a menu when you right click on it? It seems to indicate your battery is charging.

Any chance you could post a bigger version of that image - my eyesight isn't what it used to be.

No bubble comes up when you move your mouse over it? It looks almost Vista-like, but I have no idea. Worst case scenario you can just kill processes 'till it goes away.

Any chance you could capture it as part of a screenshot, paste it into something like Paint, increase the size of it there, and then post the enlarged image?

Just use your browser to zoom in... most browsers support image zooming, right? I know Firefox does.

    Work.

Ahh, thanks! But alas, it seems I'm too slow, as booboo12 seems to have identified it already.

Did you install the package directly from Intel? If yes, then it will add the Intel(R) Matrix Storage Event Monitor Service (IAANTmon.exe) and startup application (IAAnotif.exe), which both are only necessary if you're running a RAID setup. If not, then you can disable the service and remove IAAnotif.exe from startup. The older Intel packages, they allowed you to select only the drivers, but the newer packages, you cannot select what to install, unless you extract the drivers and install them manually through Device Manager. Packages from the notebook manufacturers shouldn't install those as well, I know Lenovo's doesn't.

It doesn't matter if it's x64, those are still for RAID, the purpose of the Intel Matrix Storage Console / Manager is to set up and manage RAID. People running ThinkPads with Vista 64 without any problems using Lenovo's package, which doesn't install those.

I don't think we'd ever get to the point of running something like FF; hopefully, however, when we move to new office space we'll also leave the old network behind as well - to give an example of how bad a jury-rigged network that's grown by having new bits tacked onto the old with the digital equivalent of duct-tape, I can actually get faster, better performance logging on from home via Citrix using my 6-y.o. VAIO with a 1.3GHz centrino than I can from the workstation in my office.
