What did you change when this happened? You could try a system restore to that point. Otherwise, I'd run CCleaner registry cleaner or install a new graphics driver. One of those should work.

    Try this:
    1) Right Click on desktop
    2) Go to view and click "Show Desktop Icons"
    3) Go to the nearest bathroom
    4) Close the door
    5) Scream loudly with your hand on your head (you choose which hand)
    6) Repeat steps 1-2

    That might do the trick!

    P.S. Steps 3-5 are optional...I was serious about steps 1, 2, & 6.

    Try this:
    Right click on Desktop
    >Personalize
    >(Top Left) Change Desktop Icons
Then turn off the recycle bin

see if that helps...and the do the same to add it back again.

Let us know if the annoyance dissappears when the recycle bin icon is gone

...oh yes, is the annoyance gone when you hid all of the desktop icons?

You need to reboot your mousepad.
