So, I want to try out Windows 7 on my Dell E6400. Right now, i'm wondering where do I install Windows 7?

I thought I could create a new partition and install W7 (no idea if this is possible), but I can't create a new.

    I have:

    Disk 0 Partition 1 - 101.0 MB Total size
    Disk 0 Partition 2: RECOVERY - 2GB Total size
    Disk 0 Partition 3: OS - 230GB Total size

    I assume on the OS?

Well first are you comfortable knowing that this is a beta and will deactivate in Feb/March of 2010?

If yes, then backup your important files and then go ahead and do a clean install onto the OS partition.

What OS do you have, type windows 7 on google... it will come up on windows.com as Windows 7 Release client... choose your current OS system and lanaguage, burn a dvd or use a vitual drive and install, then enjoy :D

I want to try out Windows 7, this dell might be returned because of high temps, but at least I can try it out as a test subject. Laptop doesn't have anything important right now because it's still new... but it's going to be annoying setting up the laptop again with my games, software, etc.

I have Vista Business 32-bit. I'm already installing vista, just need to know where to install.

it upgrades over the current vista 32 bit or you can set up a partition... Instead of clicking upgrade select custom and then partition it :D
