Hi people, I am new here, please help me.
I have a university mail account, which I want to add in Outlook 2007. I have tried everything, but I can't seem to add it.
It is in the format of my eamil - [email protected]
XXXX - My Student ID
YYYY - My University
I can access the Outlook Web Login though my browser, it also has ties in with Live@Edu (something to do with Windows Live).
It says "An encrypted connection to your email server is not available".
I searched for the that, and I got this link - http://outlookliveanswers.com/forums/t/1323.aspx
This guy has the same problem, and he has resolved it, but I can't understand how he did it or even what he is talking about.
Can anyone help? Thank you.![]()

Welcome to the Forums!!
Well, the link you posted pertains to Live Mail accounts. Your account looks like it is hosted outside the Windows Live Servers.
It doesn't look like an Exchange account either. So you'll need to access your account through either POP3 or IMAP controls. You'll need certain pieces of information. But that isn't the biggest concern.
If IMAP or POP3 makes no sense to you, it is best you check your school's website and ask them how you can access your Mailbox through Outlook. Or post the link here. I'm sure someone is bored enough to find the right info for ya. -
No lol, I know how to configure Outlook 2007 with POP3 and IMAP, I already have 2 accounts on that, but this new one not working for some reason. I even tried using Microsoft Exchange, but I get the same error. My uni has tied in with Windows Live Mail accounts as well, same as in that link, something Live@Edu. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I think I'm putting the wrong Incoming Server and Outgoing Server/SMTP values in there? I doubt it, but that's the only thing that makes sense. Where do I find those values from for this account?

Reading the link in the OP, if you are getting "Error: 5102. Server. Value was either too large or too small for an Int16" then you need to contact the sys admin to get them to make changes (to ensure the autodiscover record exists for the domain).
You could try this, but I don't think it's suitable:

If the website you use to check your email is outlook.com, maybe this might help you.

Thanks guys, I've already tried all that, but I still can't seem to fix it.
I still get the error - "An encrypted connection to your email server is not available".

Anyone?

I don't familiar with the system in UK, but I am going to make an assumption that your school is using either Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007. By default, Exchange has POP3 and IMAP disabled, so you need to contact Exchange administrator at your school and verify that he configures and enables those features.

I wish I had a Live edu address to help ya out by cutting and pasting the settings you need.
I still think your outgoing and incoming port settings are wrong. What are they set as? -

my email address is [email protected]
is there any way to find out the values? and this is run though windows im not sure if its got something to do with the LIVE thing though...? -

If your email service is hosted by Live mail, try the HTTP mail protocol and put the following address:
Code:http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/sync.aspx

Thank you guys, I had tried everything you mentioned in this thread already. It turns out that they won't allow us to access it via Outlook 2007. Oh well. Thanks anyways.
Help me connect my uni mail with Outlook 2007
