    Hello there,

    I have a sony vaio laptop model PCG-FR 33/B

I can't connect to Internet since it automatically updated "vaio updated" :( In my laptop sony vaio, windows xp was installed(fake) and I closed the windows update as what technician told me. But when I connect to Internet, I never noticed that there is a "vaio update" that I don't know what happens why it update itself. After that, windows track my laptop and I can't internet anymore =(.
I need to reformat on my own since this is my own laptop. And it takes me much money for this laptop. OS, gadgets, everything, etc.. Please anyone help me.

I want Windows XP pro or home edition.

    What should I do next?

Also, if anyone can help me how to install the built-in Enternet connection. Is there any drivers that I need to install? Can I buy it? I am here in Philippines.

Try asking this in the Sony forum. What brand ethernet does your notebook have? Device manager should tell you. You don't need to buy drivers, manufacturers proved them free.

i think he is saying he cant connect because his system was verified as a non geniune copy of xp. so ie wont work. a simple driver installation isnt going to fix this. the proper way to fix this is to buy a legal copy of windows or put whatever it came with back on there

Actually he is asking two things i.e. why he used the word 'also'. He is also asking about fixing an apparently illegitimate operating system AND Ethernet trouble.

If your current OS is pirated, then we can't really help you resolve that problem unless you want to get a legitimate license. In this case, you do have options.

Is this OS (Win XP) the original operating system that came with your computer? If it is not the original OS, then its best to simply format your computer and reinstall Windows along with a legitimate license key. You can do this via one of 3 options:

    (1) Reinstall Windows using the original recovery media that came with your computer.

    (2) Reinstall Windows using a recovery partition (hidden area on your hard disk) that many manufacturers nowadays store on your computer. This will restore your computer's OS to its original state (ie, when you bought it)

    (3) Acquire a Windows license. If you're a student, your campus may have a deal with Microsoft that will give you a discount on Windows. However, the problem is that XP is not sold anymore.

Options 1) and 2) will make use of your OEM Windows license (ie, a Windows license that manufacturers distribute with their computers), while option 3) will require you to get a legitimate copy of Windows.

Thank you very much guys for your response.

But when I bough this Sony vaio, It has no OS and no manuals, no CD's comes with. It only have The laptop itself and the Power Supply SC adaptor. =(

I bring this Laptop to a once technician and he install OS (I think not original) and install Windows XP (not original, im sure) without anti virus.

So I go to computer shop and let the technician there to install my laptop a antivirus "eset nod32" (not original w/ crack) he told me "just don't update and disable the automatic windows update" and I did it. Never noticed that there is still a called "vaio update" I really don't know about vaio update itself. So windows verified me as a non geniune copy of xp. so internet wont work anymore.
Someone told me to reformat is the only thing so I can use my laptop again.
I can reformat and buy a fake windows XP and disable any update again.
I bought this laptop in Japan.

    Please help me again.

Anyone who is expert in this type of sony vaio. Please help me reformat. How to reformat. I waste too much money for this laptop =(

    Thank you

Take it back to the place that installed this stuff in the first place....

Anyway some admin close this thread. No one here will help you fixing your pirated copy with another pirated windows copy.
