They are all scams. Maybe you need to unfriend this person.

Ignore your college friend and never update your drivers! They will not make your computer faster or enable it to cook you breakfast in the morning.
One should only update a certain driver if he is facing an issue with something that he knows a driver update would fix.
Example, if someone is having crackling Audio when he is recording Audio, he may want to update his Audio Drivers, and ONLY get them from the OEM manufacturer of your computer, so if your computer was a DELL, I would only download drivers from DELL that were meant for and tested on my laptop model..
You don't just go and grab a software to magically update everything, it will most likely destroy your computer beyond any recovery that you'd have to format.
Another point to take into consideration, I have tested a few of these scam driver updates before, they always find drivers that are not even relevant to my computer. It's like some d00d randomly put a driver download list and bundled it into a program for people to pay him money. A lot of these programs will claim they are free, only when you install them and run a scan, it will ask you to pay money to get the actual download links. Stay away from these viruses.
The only drivers which affect performance are 1) Graphics Card Drivers and 2) IRST Driver (Intel Rapid Storage Technology)Last edited: Aug 25, 2015ethon21, Papusan and toughasnails like this. -

I too believe in driver changes but as mentioned here those software programs are garbage. I only change to try and tweak performance, a bad recent driver is a goner here. Best thing is find sources for your recent drivers and keep a favorites folder.

Your friend has no clue as to what they are talking about. Never use 3rd party driver updater software they are malware invested and waiting for you to install onto your system. If you want to know if your system has driver update go directly to your laptop or Desktop driver manufacture site and look up your make/model and see the Driver page and if there is a update then it will show up there. As to others drivers they should only come from the hardware manufacture not 3rd party driver installer software AVOID those like a PLAGUE they are no good and some come with bloatware to install. As to the other replies unless your experiencing problem then go to the manufacture site to see if they have a updated driver listed there first and foremost. If you need to do a BIOS update read the instruction CAREFULLY before doing so and only do so if it will address a specific problem your having otherwise become more PC SAVVY before doing something like this or have a Professional shop do it for you. -

This is a good example why 50+ million computer users have downloaded W10
...ill informed .Your friend might of though he was helping you...lucky you were smart enough to come here to get the low down on it.
