I'm a guy who is completely ignorant about almost all things audio. I play guitar and fiddle around with the volume/gain/reverb/ of my amp and the equalizer in winamp but that's about the extent of my audio knowledge. That's why when I first tested out the speakers on my FX and realized they sounded tinny, I was like "oh no, what do I do!?" And then when reading a post in this forum about how Vista has a built in sound enhancement feature, I thought "Excellent... now how do I use it?" This is where hopefully you guys can come in and help me.
I checked the Room Correction box and let it calibrate my speakers and that already made a vast improvement. I also checked the Bass Boost box but I couldn't tell much of a difference and I have no idea what the frequency and boost levels do. Now my laptop sounds a lot better but when a song gets to a particularly heavy section (not necessarily bass, mostly low power chords), it seems to muffle or get quieter. Is there any way to fix this or is that just how the speakers work?
So my question is pretty much what do the frequency and boost level sliders do, and how do you use the loudness equalization settings? I clicked that thinking it's exactly what I need to solve my problems but I have no idea what a "release time" is other that a physical aspect that older men attempt to extend with the aid of certain pharmaceuticals manufactured by the company my mom works at.
Can anybody give me some help?
Help me understand the Vista Sound Enhancements please
