I have a Dell laptop that uses Dell proprietary wireless over Windows wireless. About a year ago I spoke to one of the Dell tech support and was directed how to turn it off through accessories/system tools, but I can't remember how I did it. I don't have the money to pay for their per minute support charge, so I thought I might ask for help here on this forum. Thanks for any input. BTW, I use the XP OS

    Hi Maze51,

Follow the following steps to switch to Microsoft's wireless service.

To start the Wireless Zero Configuration service, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s, and then click OK.
    2. Double-click Wireless Zero Configuration.
    3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.
    4. In the Service status area, click Start, and then click OK.

This should be it for you. Anyways save these instructions because at times Dell Wireless might bounce back knocking off Microsoft's wireless software.
    Have a good day !!

I have my Wireless Zero Configuration turned off on both of my notebooks with Intel wireless cards.
