Ok so, I was trying different gadgets (Tbh, I just got started to using Vista about a month ago), so gadgets pretty much intrigued me. I was trying interesting ones from the Windows Live Gallery, read comments and decided if Id try it.
And yeah, sysinfo gadget appeared to be great, but dont really need it. Now, I proceeded to remove it, but I wasnt able to.![]()
It told me that I needed access to uninstall it. But Im running an admin user account.
I'd appreciate any contributions on how to remove this thing. Still pretty much a Vista noobThanks in advance

To remove gadgets from the Windows Sidebar, proceed as follows:
1) Right Click the Windows Sidebar
2) From the Menu Select Properties
3) In Windows sidebar properties click the View list of running gadgets button
4) From the available list highlight the gadget you wish to remove and then click the remove button
5) If you need to remove another gadget, simply highlight your second choice and, again, click the remove button
6) When you have finished removing gadgets, click the OK button to close the Windows sidebar properties window
7) The gadget(s) you selected should now be removed from the sidebar.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Unfortunately, what I meant was uninstalling, and not simply just removing the gadget
Edit:
I do know how to uninstall gadgets, but this one just wont go away. It tells me that I dont have permission to remove it. -
oh
Try these locations and try to find them and remove
C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets
or
%userprofile%\appdata\local\microsoft\windows sidebar\gadgets -
Will deleting the entirely folder remove / uninstall the gadget?
-
just delete the folder named sysinfo.gadget or similar
-
Omg, it still wont let me delete it @_@ Any suggestions?
-
what its saying ??
try taking ownership of the file
here is a guide
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/...rship-and-grant-permissions-in-windows-vista/ -
It tells me that I dont have permission to delete the file, and with that guide, it shows that I have full control over the item (Im on admin account too, btw)
So, its really weird -
Try to delete with Unlocker --> http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
-
God ****, it took that much to delete it @_@
At least its gone now, thanks to both of you for helping me delete it -
glad you got it fixed mate
