    Hi,

I've recently downloaded DriveImage XML and I've made a complete back-up of my primary drive C on to an external hard drive.

If my hard drive was to fail completely - i.e. with a fall or smashed laptop - could I restore this image to a new hard drive via a different pc and a external enclosure (to hold the new hard drive.)????

    Many thanks,

    72oo

I never heard of this program but my guess would be using windows PE to get into this program and restore it.

    Runtime Software: DriveImage XML

Windows PE is like a stripped down OS from XP and able to use via bootable CD, no installation required.

If you are not familiar with this, you need to play with it for a while. However, you might find easier alternatives like Norton Ghost, Vista backup. Those are great, but not free indeed.
