I need alittle help here. I wiped out my computer and I reinstalled windows xp. "just the os". When I was going through the steps I deleted a couple of partitions and one of them was a FAT32 partition. One I believe was my audio. I download my driver from dell and I'm still not getting and sound, well its not even seeing that I installed the driver. If possible, is there a way to make this partition again, without the application disk? I have a Dell Inspiron E1405. Any help would great.

How would the audio be on a separate partition? Use the disc that came with your E1405.

Thomas is right. The audio would not be on a separate partition; you just need to install the correct driver. Check Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers (or whatever it is in XP), and check the status of your device, installing a new driver if necessary.
-
Sometimes Dell has drivers for more then one audio device.

Dell is weird that way...

I know, they should know keep up with the service tag and hardware they shipped.
-
From what I was reading, it seems like there was a fat 32 partition. I checked the drivers and nothing works. Also I don't have the disks, they never came with them.
-
When you do a new install, you have to install drivers.

I figured it out. Everything is working. Heres a small problem that I can't seem to fix. My internal wireless card picks up my network but doesn't give and ip. I see the cp in the router table but no ip?
-
Tried multiple networks? Perhaps it's due to this network's router settings...
-
It seems like I can't even connect to anyone else either. Just to my network but wont give me an ip.

They do keep track of your service tag. Under dell.com support > drivers, you can choose to search for drivers using your service tag.
