I have a 4gb USB drive. I had some important files of mine which I found out now that I deleted it 4 months back. I have not used it since then. I thought that the files was safe in my USB but it got deleted so I need to get it back. :( I have tried some backing up software but became unsuccessful to retrieve it. :( Anyone knows of any software which is best for doing this task? It doesnot matter if it costs a lot of money. :) I am ready to buy that software. I will go with any full version software or a freeware but it should be able to retrieve.

    Thanks a lot !

Have you tried Recuva, it's listed in the Free Windows Software stickie thread, along with a few others.

Whatever you do, do not write anything to that USB drive until you've gotten everything you can salvage.

My external harddisk suddenly reformatted by itself, and at the time I've used RecoverMyFiles to recover lots of it. There are two partitions, I can get the file on one partition safely and burned them into DVDs, however, the other partition I also tried to save them and burned them into DVDs, but all files on this partition corrupted. 1 Partition data saved, the other one corrupted.
But I still recommend to try this program, it saved more than half of my wiped data. It is not free though.

What operating system are you on?

Were the files ever on your hard disk?

Vista has the Shadow Copy feature where you can retrieve deleted files.

There is no guarantee, but last year another user had the same problem as you, and Power Data Recovery did the trick for him/her.

The best file undelete software is File Restore Professional from PC Recovery. There is also a reference on the website regarding it being used by Microsoft. You can download it here: www.pcrecovery.com/file-restore
